1. About Friendly Companions

Friendly Companions provides non-medical companionship and practical support services to older adults and other individuals who may benefit from companionship and assistance with everyday activities.

By booking services with Friendly Companions, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.


2. Services Provided

Services may include:

  • Companionship visits

  • Social outings

  • Support attending appointments

  • Shopping and errands

  • Light household tasks

  • Meal preparation

  • General practical support

Services are tailored to individual needs and agreed in advance with the client or their representative.


3. Services Not Provided

Friendly Companions does not provide:

  • Personal care

  • Assistance with bathing, dressing or toileting

  • Administration of medication

  • Medical treatment or healthcare services

  • Nursing care

  • Financial management or control of client finances

  • Regulated care activities requiring registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)


4. Bookings and Minimum Visits

Visits are subject to availability.

Unless otherwise agreed, a minimum visit length of two hours applies.

Regular ongoing bookings may be arranged by mutual agreement.


5. Fees and Payment

Fees will be agreed prior to the commencement of services.

Invoices must be paid within the agreed payment period.

Friendly Companions reserves the right to suspend services where payments remain outstanding.


6. Cancellation Policy

Clients may cancel a scheduled visit by providing at least 24 hours’ notice.

Where less than 24 hours’ notice is provided, Friendly Companions reserves the right to charge for the booked visit in full or in part.

Friendly Companions will provide as much notice as reasonably possible if a visit needs to be cancelled or rescheduled.


7. Independence and Choice

Friendly Companions is committed to promoting the independence, dignity and choice of every client.

Clients remain responsible for making their own decisions wherever they have the capacity to do so.


8. Safeguarding

Friendly Companions takes the safety and well-being of clients seriously and operates in accordance with its Safeguarding Policy.

Where concerns arise regarding the safety or welfare of a client, Friendly Companions may share information with appropriate family members, professionals or authorities where necessary to protect the individual from harm.


9. Emergency Contact Information

To help ensure client safety and welfare, Friendly Companions may request the name and contact details of a family member, friend, next of kin, or other emergency contact.

Clients are responsible for ensuring that emergency contact information is accurate and kept up to date.

Where Friendly Companions reasonably believes there is a concern regarding a client’s safety, welfare, health or wellbeing, reasonable efforts may be made to contact the nominated emergency contact.

In situations involving an immediate risk to health or safety, Friendly Companions may contact emergency services without first contacting the nominated emergency contact.


10. Use of Staff, Associates and Contractors

Services may be provided by the owner of Friendly Companions or by suitably recruited, vetted and insured employees, associates, contractors or volunteers acting on behalf of Friendly Companions.

Where another individual is assigned to provide services, Friendly Companions will take reasonable steps to ensure they meet the standards expected by the business.


11. Liability

Friendly Companions will exercise reasonable care and skill in the delivery of services.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot legally be excluded.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Friendly Companions shall not be liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of its services.


12. Privacy

Personal information will be collected and processed in accordance with the Friendly Companions Privacy Policy.


13. Changes to These Terms

Friendly Companions reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

The latest version will always be available on the website.
